Thing 7: You Tube

You Tube is astounding. There is a video on anything and everything you could possibly want to see. I viewed a couple of the math videos. For example, I love the video from Pa and Ma Kettle. I have a couple of students in my class that have seen it, and they love it. One even sent me a link this past year to my email address! The concern I have with You Tube is that it's uncensored. I am even concerned when my 10-year-old son wants to search for videos on roller coasters. You just never know when something inappropriate is going to show up! I am also concerned with students posting videos on You Tube. You really have to be careful to make sure your safe, and many of our students minimize the risks of online activity. They put personal notes, photos, and videos out there in the public view often with identifying information.
