Thing 4: Custom Homepage

OK - this is the coolest thing ever! Thank you, thank you, thank you for showing us this! I am someone who needs organization, and I have been a little overwhelmed lately with all the email accounts I have been getting for different things. I have also been having a hard time remembering to visit various websites that I need access from time to time. The Netvibes homepage is amazing! It's just what I've been looking for to help me manage all of my online activities.

I chose Netvibes for two reasons. I started trying to set up a Pageflakes account first and was not able to do it. I appreciated having the Netvibes step-by-step tutorial at my side, where I could do a few things, pause the video, do a few more, etc. I also liked the flexibility that Netvibes offers. It's really easy to change the layout of your page and add or delete things as necessary. I choose to include national news (USA Today) and local weather on my homepage. I also added links to my personal interests (cooking) and bookmarks for all the websites I need to check frequently (like my Girl Scout Yahoo Group for Troop Leaders)!

To apply this to the classroom, I could see having widgets for math review websites, bookmarks to the school and town websites, links to textbooks and more. Everyone should take this course and learn about all of these amazing tools!! Thanks again!
